Hello Readers!

Hello everyone! long time no see, I've been having a play with unity, I am not a programmer as you know so I'm making slow progress with that. Also the indie group I believe has broken up as there has been no real news lately. As for the job hunt I'm still actively looking, if anyone has any roles they think i could be suitable for please let me know.

Now back onto my work, I've not got a new personal project yet as I'm still thinking some over i have however been doing a little modelling and rigging. The latest, an Ant! Small I know but it was just an idea for a little fun. I'm still rigging it, its not complete so there's no animation yet but here are some still images if what I have so far! Hope you all Enjoy!

Unity

I have downloaded unity, looking at it and trying to get to grips with using a new program and to new script. I've only ever used ActionScript and that was only once or twice but i think ill get to grips with most of what i need by looking it up and finding it out.

I will start on the assets for the game as soon as possible, as i said i dont need to create much in the way of a design document as i am the be and end all of the design team. However i am having the help of my partner for ideas about the game, and thanks to her the game itself shifted into a different direction the other day. But hopefully this new direction will lead me on to an even better than the one i had planned before! She will also be helping me pick a new studio name hopefully, though it consists of just us two.

As things start to progress im sure there will be images popping up on here for all of you to see and comment on. Tell me what you are liking and not. I may in time also release the game play aspects so keep watching, hopefully something good will pop up on here soon!

Onwards and.... Onwards?

Hello again everyone!

I know I have been abscent for a little while and thats because I haven't had anything new to show really. I think the project with friends has kinda fell through. I haven't heard anything or seen anything new in weeks and weeks so i will no longer be working on that project unless the team come together and have shown significant improvement in work ethic.

Following on from that I have split off onto my own idea, I have the basic idea now. With some of the gameplay ideas laid out. I will be running it by friends and family to see what they think and posting work on here when I have some to present.

I still need a name for my individual indie studio, if anyone has any ideas throw them my way! I shall be concentrating on the game as much as I can so therefor wont be thinking much on a studio name for a while.

Hopefully there will be lots of work to show on here! And even if it takes me quite a while to have a finished product maybe a potential employer will see what I have on here and be willing to give me a shot.

Since its just me on the project I will also be skipping the design document phase, I'll write down much of the game play aspects for my own reflection but there will be no formal document as of yet for anyone to see. Also much will about it will remain tip top secret ;D

UPDATE: The Project

Well little to no progress is being made on  weekly basis here, seems like im the only one putting the time in in order to get anything done.

Its almost time for me to consider leaving the project in order to follow one of my own as its starting to feel like this one is going nowhere unless i do it alone. Which i would do if it was my game idea however unfortunately it is not, just the content there of is. But if i chose to leave the project i will also remove my ideas fromt he previous game and maybe use them in my own project.

UPDATE: With the help of my friend and partner, Marlene, i have decide that i will continue to work on the project however i will only continue to do so whilst other people are. Whilst they are not working, and i am not on that particular project i will continure to work on my own project(s) and so will hopefully continue to have work to post here on my portfolio.

PTS Charity

Lack of new posts!

Hey Everyone!

I'm sorry i've not posted anything new for a little while. I've now started work on the project with friends, its all the written stuff at the moment so there isnt much to show for it, YET.
Of course the design document won't be released to the public eye, and i'll be keeping information on the project top secret until further notice. However you may see dribs and drabs of work for it appear here on my blog.

But shhh.... tell everyone :P

Big updates to come when the project moves onto the development stage!

All work, no play!

Hello again!

I've not made a post in a couple of days! I have been making slow progress with the breakables but i think the problem is fixed now, so i will be able to churn them out much quicker.

I'm hoping to still be able to get work done as my room will be occupied so i may not have access to a PC.

Back again! ;D

Here I am! Back again with something new. I'm attempting to create something new and different to show off to you guys here at my blog, just as a show I can do something a little different! :)
I'll edit this same post with images as I progress but I will keep the old ones on here, maybe you'll get an idea of my creative process and how I made this!

Fully optimised, the mesh went down from11,290 to3,684 polys, thats a total of 7606 faces merged and deleted out, without losing any of the detailing! :D I know i could have done more, but i didnt wish to cut it down any less at this moment.

 In Engine

All the following images will be of the model in Engine, starting from the outside and carrying on into the interiors once they are complete.





 

The very latest, the bottom floor inside walls are done along with the outside being complete with working breakable lights. Along with this the second floor walls are completed and ready to be textured.
The second image shows some of the things that can be broke, including the light (which stops lighting when broken), the windows, the sign, and the props inside. Also shows the doors work as doors and can be opened!

Its alive!!!!!!

Well i only managed to get the first animation complete and rendered, slow rendering machine unfortunately! More incoming later though! Probably apply them to this post so watch your space here :P

Next clue ;)

Hello again!
Here is the next clue in the following images. Got the the rig and controllers done with a couple of hours in my spare time! I'm sure you can tell what it is by now :P But if not im not telling... yet.
Just the weighting to do and then this model is complete and ready for animation. Once that is done all will be revealed ;D

Dinosaur Work!

I started out doing a dinosaur project, just doing some dinosaurs and pushing my skills. This project taught me a lot and all the work was done by me.

I first started with a base mesh, which was simple and very very low poly, which would later become my proxy for animation and my hit box if i should want to put it in engine. I then imported that into ZBrush where i sculpted in a lot of the fine detail and painted on the texture. I went for simpler almost cartoony style textures.
Instead of exporting out the base i went to the 3rd subdivision and deleted the lower ones, exporting this as my new base mesh. I had to create UV's which i did using maya and reimport it in before i could export both the Diffuse and Normal Map for my Model.
After i did this and got everything back into maya it was a case of rigging with controllers and animating my T-Rex in order to get some of the pieces you see here on this blog!

This is both my very first rig and very first animation i have done!

ZBrush Sculpts.


Hello again. I've just finished uploading some of my sculpts from ZBrush. They're cartoon in style more than anything and there was no base mesh for either of them. I simply used a ZSphere as my base and sculpted them straight out. No longer than a day was spent on each. Hope you like them!
